HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:
Write an original 150-words or fewer essay describing “how
everyday moments have shaped your life and family” and
have a photograph taken of your family’s “three
generations.” Three generations must be comprised of
a grandmother, her daughter and her daughter’s child
(child may be male or female but must be 9 years of age or
younger as of 1/1/06). Photograph must only contain the three
generations. Essay must be written by only one of the two
adult generations (grandmother or her daughter) featured in
the photograph.
2. ELIGIBILITY:
This Contest is open only to residents of the 50 United States
and the District of Columbia, who are grandmothers and their
daughters who are mothers/female legal guardians of children
9 years of age or younger as of 1/1/06. Employees of Procter
& Gamble, its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and
promotion agencies and their immediate family members and/or
those living in the same household of each are not eligible
to win, nor are entrants who are professional or former professional
models or writers, or who have had their work previously published,
or who have signed or been bound by a modeling contract with
a modeling agency or other third party who represents more
than one model. The decision as to whether or not an entrant
is/was a professional model or writer will be within the sole
and reasonable discretion of the Sponsor and independent judging
organization. All federal, state and local laws and regulations
apply. Void where prohibited by law.
3. TWO WAYS TO ENTER:
A) VIA MAIL: On an Official
Entry Form, or plain piece of 8-1/2” x 11” paper,
hand-print or type the following entry information: a) the
complete name of the entrant who wrote the essay; b) your
complete name, street address (no P.O. boxes), city, state,
zip code, date of birth (mm/dd/yyyy), and (optional) day and
evening telephone numbers (including area codes); c) the complete
names, street addresses (no P.O. boxes), cities, states, zip
codes, dates of birth (mm/dd/yyyy), and (optional) day and
evening telephone numbers (including area codes) for the other
adult in your entry (grandmother or mother/female legal guardian)
and the child. Official Entry Forms will be available at www.Ivory.com
beginning 12:01 a.m. (ET) on 1/1/06 through 11:59 p.m. (ET)
on 5/23/06. Follow the on-screen instructions to access and
print the Official Entry Form. Additionally, on a separate
plain piece of 8-1/2” x 11” paper, hand-print
or type your complete name and day and evening telephone numbers
(including area codes) and your 150-words or fewer essay.
Mail your Official Entry Form (or 8-1/2” x 11”
paper with entry information), essay and photograph via first-class
mail, to: Ivory “Search for Three Generations”
Contest, P.O. Box 5525, Blair, NE 68009-5525, to be received
by 5/31/06, when the Contest ends. Limit one entry per outer
mailing envelope. Sponsor is not responsible for any lost,
late, illegible, misdirected, postage due or mutilated/damaged
entries or photographs. Photograph submitted must be an unframed,
unmounted color print; minimum size of 4” x 6”
and maximum size of 8” x 10”. Slides and transparencies
are not acceptable.
B) VIA REGIONAL EVENTS: Beginning
in February 2006 through May 2006, five Regional Events will
be conducted in the following cities: Los Angeles, CA; Atlanta,
GA; Chicago, IL; New York, NY; and Seattle, WA. Visit www.Ivory.com
for dates and locations of events. Dates and locations are
subject to change. To enter at a Regional Event, all three
generations (as described in Rule #1) must attend the event
together. At the event, all three generations must visit the
registration desk to register, complete an Official Entry
Form and Publicity Release and have their picture taken. If
you wish, you can bring your 150-words or fewer essay to the
event, or you can write your essay at the event. If you choose
to write your essay at the event, visit the registration desk
to obtain a plain piece of 8-1/2” x 11” paper
and a pen/pencil. All three generations must register, complete
their Official Entry Form and essay and have their photograph
taken by the deadlines posted at the event. Only photographs
taken at the event will be judged. If time permits, registered
contestants may be required to recite their essays before
a panel of judges at the event. Only the content of the essays
and photographs taken at the event will be judged; recitations
will not be judged. If you do not meet the deadlines as stated
above, you will not be included in the judging for that Regional
Event, but can enter the Contest via subsequent Regional Events
(if any) or via Rule #3A.
All material submitted becomes property of Sponsor and will
not be returned.
4. PRELIMINARY JUDGING:
- Mail-in entries received via Rule #3A will be judged to
determine three Finalist Teams. Judging will be conducted
by D.L. Blair, Inc., an independent judging organization whose
decisions are final on all matters relating to this Contest.
Judging will be based on the following criteria: Originality
& Creativity of Statement – 30%; Sincerity of Statement
– 10%; Appropriateness of Statement to Theme –
30%; Appropriateness of Photo to Theme – 30%. In the
event of a tie, the tie will be broken based on the highest
score for “Appropriateness of Photo to Theme.”
- Regional Event entries received via Rule #3B will be judged
to determine one Finalist Team per each Regional Event. Judging
for each regional event will be conducted from all entries
received from registered contestants for that event only.
Judging will be conducted by representatives of the Sponsor,
whose decisions are final. Judging will be based on the following
criteria: Originality & Creativity of Statement –
30%; Sincerity of Statement – 10%; Appropriateness of
Statement to Theme – 30%; Appropriateness of Photo to
Theme – 30%. In the event of a tie, the tie will be
broken based on the highest score for “Appropriateness
of Photo to Theme.”
All potential Finalist Teams will be notified by mail. Finalist
Team Limitations: a) one per family; b) one per household.
5. FINAL JUDGING EVENT:
The members of the three Finalist Teams selected via Rule
#4A along with the members of the five Finalist Teams selected
via Rule #4B, will be required to attend the Final Judging
Event in New York City in September 2006 (date to be determined
by Sponsor). At the Final Judging Event, each Finalist Team
will have their photo taken by a professional photographer
and will also be interviewed by representatives of the Sponsor.
Each Finalist Team’s photo and interview will be judged
to determine the Grand Prize winning team. Judging will be
conducted by representatives of the Sponsor, under the supervision
of D.L. Blair, Inc., an independent judging organization whose
decisions are final, and will be based on the following criteria:
Originality & Creativity of Response to Interview Questions
– 30%; Appropriateness of Responses to Interview Questions
– 30%; Sincerity of Responses to Interview Questions
– 10%; Appropriateness of Photo to Theme – 30%.
In the event of a tie, the tie will be broken based on the
highest score for “Appropriateness of Photo to Theme.”
Grand Prize winner will be notified by phone/mail.
6. PRIZES & APPROXIMATE RETAIL
VALUES:
(8) Finalist Team Prizes (3 to be awarded to the Finalist
Teams selected via Rule #4A, and 5 to be awarded to the Finalist
Teams selected via Rule #4B): Each Finalist Team will receive
a 4-day/3-night trip to New York City for the grandmother,
mother/female legal guardian and child. Prize includes round-trip
coach air transportation from major airport nearest each Finalist
Team member’s home and hotel accommodations (one room)
(ARV: $4,000 per prize). Actual retail values of the Finalist
Team Prizes will depend upon points of departure/return. Travel
accommodations/arrangements at discretion of Sponsor. (1)
Grand Prize: a $40,000 scholarship for the child featured
in the Grand Prize winning photo. (Scholarship will be awarded
in the form of a zero coupon bond valued at $40,000 at maturity.
Bond will reach maturity five years from date of award. The
actual cost at time of purchase will be based on market rates
but may be approximately $30,000 - $35,000. All taxes on the
bond are the sole responsibility of the prize winner.) Plus,
the writer of the winning essay will receive a one-year supply
of Ivory soap (awarded in the form of 12 soap bars) and a
one-year supply of Ivory Lavender Body Wash (awarded in the
form of twelve 24 oz. bottles). The total approximate retail
value of the Grand Prize is $40,050. Prizes consist only of
those items specifically listed as part of the prizes.
7. GENERAL RULES:
Prior to the Final Judging Event, all three members of the
eight potential Finalist Teams will be required to complete
an Affidavit of Eligibility, Release of Liability and, if
legally permissible, a Publicity Release within 10 days of
attempted delivery of same. Parent/legal guardian will be
required to execute the above-referenced documents on behalf
of the minor team member. Failure to comply may result in
disqualification in which case an alternate may be selected.
Each Finalist Team will be required to submit an affidavit
certifying that the entry submitted is their own original
work and they hold all rights to the submission, that the
submission has not been previously published, has not won
a previous prize or award and that they have followed the
Official Rules of the Contest. Entries may not contain profanities
and may not in any way disparage persons or organizations
associated with Sponsor. Sponsor reserves the right in its
sole discretion to disqualify any entry it determines to be
profane, or that reflects negatively on or disparages Sponsor
or any company or does not comply with these requirements
or these Official Rules. Essays and photographs must be suitable
for presentation in a public forum, in sole determination
of judges and/or Sponsor. Sponsor reserves the right to reproduce
the essays and photographs in full or edit and enhance the
essays and photographs at its discretion. Sponsor is authorized
to use submitted entries as it sees fit, including usage in
advertising. Sponsor reserves the right to modify, adapt or
reproduce the photograph in full, or to crop the photograph
for reproduction. Members of the Finalist Teams must execute
a Release of Liability prior to ticketing and must possess
required travel documents (e.g. valid photo I.D.) prior to
departure. All travelers must agree to travel on dates specified
by sponsor; dates of departure and return are subject to change.
No substitution or transfer of prize permitted. Sponsor reserves
the right to substitute prize or any portion thereof of equal
or greater value. By accepting prize, winners agree to hold
Sponsor, its respective directors, officers, employees and
assigns, harmless against any and all claims and liability
arising out of use of prize. All federal, state and local
taxes on prize are the sole responsibility of prize winners.
Winners assume all liability for any injury or damage caused,
or claimed to be caused, by participation in this promotion
or use or redemption of any prize. Acceptance of prize constitutes
permission to the Sponsor and its agencies to use prize winners’
names and/or likenesses for purposes of advertising and trade
without further compensation, unless prohibited by law. Sponsor
is not responsible for any typographical or other error in
the printing, the offering or the announcement of the prizes
or in the administration of the promotion. In no event will
more than the stated number of prizes be awarded.
8. WINNER:
For the names of prizewinners, available after 10/6/06, send
a stamped, self-addressed #10 envelope to: Ivory “Search
for Three Generations” Contest Winners, P.O. Box 5571,
Blair, NE 68009-5571, to be received by 5/31/06.
